The three ticket types — explained

Skytree's observatory tickets are structured around height. There are two observation floors: the Tembo Deck (天望デッキ) at 350 m and the Tembo Galleria (天望回廊) at 450 m.

  • Combo ticket: Access to both levels (350 m + 450 m) — the most popular option. From ¥3,000 for adults.
  • Tembo Deck ticket: 350 m only. From ¥1,800 for adults. Ideal if you want the view without necessarily going to the very top.
  • Tembo Galleria add-on: The 450 m extra (¥1,400 for adults). Only purchasable on-site by Tembo Deck ticket holders.

If you plan to go all the way to the top, the combo ticket is better value: Deck (¥1,800) + Galleria add-on (¥1,400) = ¥3,200, versus ¥3,000 for the combo — saving you ¥200 per adult.

Children's rates and age categories

Pricing is split into three age groups based on official information:

  • Adult: Age 15 and over (includes high-school students).
  • Child: Ages 6–14 (up to and including junior-high age). Roughly half the adult price.
  • Infant: Age 5 and under — free.

One common mistake: high-school students (age 15+) pay adult prices, not child prices. Double-check when budgeting for a family or school group.

⚠️

The hidden cost of buying at the counter

Each ticket bought at the 4F counter or vending machine carries a ¥500 surcharge. For two adults and two children that's ¥2,000 extra — and you'll still have to queue. This is the single biggest reason to book online in advance.

Same-day vs advance purchase — side by side

"When a ticket price decision comes up, my recommendation is always the combo ticket for an early-evening slot. You get daylight views and then the city lights up beneath you — all in a single visit. The extra ¥1,200 per person over the deck-only ticket is the best-value upgrade I know in Tokyo."

Special experience tickets

Beyond the standard observatory tickets, the official site offers limited-time and experience-based options. Below are indicative examples (content and prices vary by season):

  • Morning View Ticket: Morning observatory access + soft drink and light breakfast. From ¥2,500 for adults.
  • Night View Ticket: Night-view observatory access + one alcoholic drink. From ¥2,400 for adults.
  • Matcha Drink Ticket: Tembo Deck admission + matcha drink. From ¥2,700 for adults.
  • SKYTREE YOGA: Yoga session at 450 m. ¥5,600 (ages 18+ only).

Experience tickets tend to cost less than buying each element separately, and they're ideal for a special occasion or when a standard view isn't quite enough.

Bundle deals — aquarium and transit

The "Skytree Enjoy Pack" bundles the observatory with nearby attractions. Indicative prices:

  • Sumida Aquarium bundle: From ¥4,000. Popular for rainy days and families with children.
  • Planetarium "Tenku" bundle: From ¥3,200.
  • Tokyo Metro / Toei 24-hour pass bundle: From ¥2,350. Great when you're moving around the city all day.
  • teamLab Planets plan: From ¥7,100.

The aquarium bundle and the recommended itinerary for combining both venues are explained in the Aquarium Combo guide. All Enjoy Packs require advance online purchase — none are available at the on-site counter.

Five ways to pay less

  • Book online in advance: Avoid the ¥500-per-ticket counter surcharge.
  • Choose the combo ticket: Cheaper than deck + galleria separately if you plan to reach 450 m.
  • Check children's and infant rates: Under-5s are free; ages 6–14 pay roughly half.
  • Use a transit bundle: The subway day-pass add-on saves on transport too.
  • Disability discounts: Discounts are available with a valid disability certificate — check the official site for details.
